As I write this, petrol prices are hitting all time highs in many countries around the world. Combined with damage car emissions do to our planet and the air we breathe, you may be thinking it's time to get an electric car.
So I'll add resources to this page as I find them, in addition to the articles I've previously written about electric cars.
A $17,000 electric car?
Goodcar.co is a clever little company that is very enthusiastic about electric cars. They've discovered that Japan has lots of second-hand cars for quite affordable prices - and are importing them to Australia.
Prices vary depending on how much range you want. For everyday short trips, they say cars start from $17k. The also do bulk-buys, where a group of people get purchase together for a bulk discount. I'm told this can take another couple of thousand off the price.
What about the range?
It's a big question people have but really there are lots of charge points. The website Plugshare.com shows all the ones in your area.
Here's a map of Australia. It's pretty easy to find a place to charge if you're on a long drive.
Here's the city of Brisbane
You can see more blue ones now - which are residents who will let you charge up at their house. Even if you're driving around the city all day, it's still very easy to find somewhere to charge.
Get behind the wheel of one
Speaking of Brisbane, on 23 April 2022 there's a Brisbane Electric Vehicle Experience event. You can RSVP on Eventbrite page.
